Thanks Darryl… it was a charming little town/village.
Love the rich colours, looks like a stunning location for a shoot? Graham
Yip, definiltely a great location for a shoot! In fact the whole town is perfect!
I did have a few problems in getting the JPEGs to look the way I wanted. Lightroom uses the ProPhoto colour space for everything and when converting to sRGB for the web, the image looked quite flat. So I had to increase the amount of contrast significantly to get the look I wanted in the JPEGs for this blog. Still isn’t as good as it is when viewed in Lightroom. Apparently, some Epson dude on KelbyTraining rekoned that we should just use the ProPhoto colour space for everything. The problem is that I know of few print labs that will except images which use the ProPhoto colour space. Most of them want images to conform to the sRGB colour space.
Nice. That last one of the castle is excellent 🙂
Thanks Jason. I did shoot mainly on a tripod and decided to make multiple exposures of nearly all the images. Although I used Photomatix Pro to initially process the images, I did not go down the HDR tone mapping for most of them. I went through the “blending” mode which gave me a more pleasing exposure. The sun was so bright that there was almost a 3 stop difference between the highlights and the shadows. Using the blending mode allowed me to get an almost natural image with detail in the shadow areas (like the texture of the bridge).
Processing the image with the castle actually took me a few attempts at finding something I liked and something that looked natural.
