Day 55 – Kite Boarding
November 24, 2009 by gwyncole
Before I went to the Miss Earth event, I popped down to Bolabog beach to do some more practice in shooting sports action. I do feel I’m improving which I hope this next batch of images show. My framing is getting better. I’m anticipating when to shoot is getting better. And the focusing technique I learnt from my cousin Barry is getting better also…

ISO 400, 1/1000 sec, F3.5, 200mm, +0.7 EV.

ISO 400, 1/1250 sec, F3.5, 200mm, +0.7 EV.

I love this frame! I found out who this guy was today. His name is Ken at Free Style Kite Boarding.

I love the way he's just hanging on waiting to eventually come down to the water.

I met this person today (Day 57). She's letting the air out of her kite in this photo.

ISO 320, 1/1600 sec, F2.8, 200mm, +0.7 EV.

My last frame of the shoot...

WOW! What a amazing colors! cheers from Munich & have a good time … Radmila
Thanks Radmila! Having such a great time here in the Philippines. My camera goes everywhere with me! Still looking out for locations to shoot those Lovegrove style Urban Portraits. Hopefully sorting out somebody to be a model soon…
🙂 what can I say.. Excellent photos yet again….
With all that sunshine there, I’m surprised that are using ISO 400. I would be using the lens wide open actually to completely isolate the subject as much as possible. If you used a slower shutter speed 1/400 sec, you will get nice nice speed effects but definitely use it as wide as possible, obviously depending how close you are….. Barry
Thanks for the advice Barry. Will shoot wide open today. I was using my polarizing filter which pushed my shutter speed down 2 stops. So I raised my ISO to compensate. Today looks a lot brighter! Will try the slower shutter speed as well today…
